• MILESTONES (SALIENT FEATURES)
• 1. Transition from ESIS Hospital to ESIC Hospital
• 1. 1. ESIC Hospital at Bibvewadi, Pune is spread across 10 Acres of Land.
     2. 100 beds were sanctioned for Indoor capacity for the envisaged ESIS run hospital as per the building norms prevalent then. Accordingly, the building was designed to provide space to accommodate services as conceived for a 100 bedded ESIS Hospital.
     3. The building space design and service plans did not consider many services and facilities as per Norms defined by ESIC for 100 bedded ESIC Hospital.
     4. Hospital was handed over to ESIC by State Government (ESI Scheme) on 12/05/2017.
     5. As the building was quite in bad shape, Renovation of the hospital was ordered by Hqrs. Office. The renovation work started by UPRNN after handing over of the building took place.
• 2. Operationalisation of Services – 1^st wave COVID- Dedicated COVID Hospital
     1. To utilise the building while it was still being renovated by UPRNN (the then agency appointed by Hqrs. Office), the OPD services were started in part of the hospital premises with the staff of the State Government and a few appointed by ESIC, with effect from 14/11/2017.
     2. IPD was handed over to ESIC by UPRNN on 24/07/2020 on intervention of Hqrs Office with near completed renovation work and incomplete handover of few of the services (CSSD, Laundry, Effluent Treatment Plant, Sewerage Treatment Plant, etc.). Some of the facilities were never created such as Medical Store, 
     3. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the same time and for the reason that the hospital was to be facilitated and utilised for the IPs, for IPD Services (for general diseases), this hospital was nominated by the District Magistrate through administrative order as a ‘COVID Care Centre’. Hence COVID Care Services started, with effect from 31/07/2020.
     4. Later on, the Hospital was re-designated as 50 bedded ‘Dedicated COVID Hospital’ by the District Magistrate with effect from 25/09/2020 for general public.
     5. Emergency Services with 3 bedded Observation Wards started with effect from 12/10/2020. 
     6. Ambulance facility started from 14/10/2020.
     7. Emergency Services were further expanded with effect from 29/10/2020, by addition of more beds to make it an 8 bedded Observation ward due to increased cases of COVID patients.
     8. Considering that only 50 beds are running for COVID bed, UPRNN provisioned facilities and general furniture inadequately. It did not provide furniture and facilities for 100 bedded hospital. The matter was duly intimated to the Hqrs. Office.
• 3. Operationalisation of Services – 100 bedded dedicated ESIC Hospital for IPs
     1. As COVID pandemic waned off, permission was sought from the District Magistrate for terminating the COVID Services and starting non-COVID IPD services for ESI Beneficiaries. 
     2. Permission was granted and the 50 bedded IPD Services for non-COVID ESI patients started with effect from 01/12/2020.
     3. The IPD services were further augmented and 100 beds were made operational for Non-COVID ESI patients with effect from 16/02/2021.
     4. Emergency Operation Theatre (OT) Started functioning with effect from 24/02/2021.
     5. Major OT Complex started functioning with effect from 26/03/2021.
• 4. Operationalisation of Services – 2^nd Wave COVID - Dedicated COVID Hospital
     1. In view of the second wave of COVID, this hospital was again converted to a 100 bedded‘Dedicated COVID Hospital (with ICU and Ventilator services on PPP mode)’ by the District Magistrate, with effect from 14/04/2021. The cost was of ICU resources & equipment and the services through PPP mode was borne by the State.
     2. ESIC also started Ultrasonography facility with effect from 23/04/2021 to augment facility for COVID Services.
     3. Non-COVID services for ESI IPs were also functional simultaneously in OPD, Emergency and Diagnostic departments.
• 5. Operationalisation of Services – Reversal to 100 bedded dedicated ESIC Hospital for IPs
     1. With the approval of the District Magistrate, this hospital again became a non-COVID hospital with effect from 26/07/2021 and 100 Bedded IPD was made functional for Non-COVID ESI patients.
     2. This hospital acquired prestigious ISO 9001: 2015 on 06/09/2021
     3. Ophthalmology Operation Theatre made functional with effect from 08/10/2021.
     4. To tide over the situation of Oxygen shortfall, a PSA plant with 600LPM capacity was donated (MLA Funds) to this hospital which was made functional from January, 2022
     5. 10 Bedded Level- I ICU started with effect from 21/09/2022 with no additional manpower resources. However, for want of Medical resources it could not be upgraded to a Level-II ICU.
     6. Present Status: Sanctioned beds – 100. Operational Beds: 92 + 8 bedded Emergency Observation Ward.

     1. Emergency/Casualty Services: 24X7 emergency services with 8 bedded Observation Wards, Emergency Operation Theatre and Laboratory backup. ECG Services, Ambulance Services.

        1. Lab Services: Routine Services of Pathology, Haematology, Microbiology, Biochemistry. Specialised Services are outsourced.
        2. Radiology & Imaging Services:- X-Rays, Ultrasonography, Colour Doppler, 2 D Echo
     2. In-Patient Services: 92 bedded In-Patient Services for the specialities where OPD Services available.
• Operation Theatre Services: Equipped with 2 Major and 1 Emergency Operation Theatres for Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology. 
• Anaesthesia Services: Routine Anaesthesia Services and Pre-Anaesthetic Check-up Services
• Labour Room Services: Labour Room is equipped with 2 Labour Tables for 24 x 7 for normal delivery Services.
• Nursery Facility: Equipped with 4 warmers, Bubble CPAP and standby Ventilator. To upgrade to Level II, NICU, it shall require sanction of bare minimum 5 Medical Officers for NICU.
• Level – I, ICU Facility: 10 Bedded Level I - ICU with Multi-para Monitors, Defibrillator and Ventilator Services. However, to upgrade to Level II ICU services, it shall require sanction of bare minimum 5 Medical Officers for ICU.
• Ambulance Services. 24X7 ambulance services (Hired)
• Diet Kitchen: Inhouse kitchen for dietary services to patients 
• Dietetics Services: Dietician services available to patients
• Laundry Services: Semi-mechanised Laundry services
• CSSD: Central Sterile Supply Department
